HISTORY
According to our Grandparents, once there was
grown big hard tree inside the wild forest of the foot Mount Mayon. This tree
was known by the hunters “Baligang Tree “. These kinds of trees were famous
because of its wide twigs and colour black fruit. Its fruit taste a little bit
sour however excessive in sweet.
In the centre of the forest near Baligang
Tree, there was Abacas or commonly called Manila hemp wildly grown. These
Abacas were harvest by the farmers and made it into an Abaca thread which they
sell at the metropolis. Our Grandparent added that the farmers vend Abacas to
survive the hunger. Before the farmers ran thru the forest, they always pass
over the Baligang tree that during the times, they sometimes made it a meeting
place to take their lunch and their place to rest. Because of the far distance
of their place to the forest where they get Abacas, they certainly decided to
build their houses nearby the tree. As the times, days and years goes on, many
people then built houses – hundred of houses particularly. This was the reason
to turn the place over into a village. Since then, the place was known Barangay
Baligang.
